Kyoto is a level from Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix and a classic mode level in Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.

In THUG2 Remix, during this level, your character is on Team Bam, like in Berlin. In the end of this level, your character goes back to Team Tony.

Origin[]

It is based off of the city of Kyoto, Japan. The level contains representations of Kyoto Station, and the Yodobashi Camera (ヨドバシ カメラ) store, represented as Bashidoyo Camera (バシドヨ カメラ) in-game; although the store does exist in Kyoto, the building itself is actually from Shinjuku, Japan.

Level Description[]

In THUG2 Remix, a giant monster named MegaBeast Zero (メガビーズトゼーロ) [parody of Godzilla] can be summoned by sticker slapping the 3 alarm horns once the objective is unlocked, then the level's secret skater Voltraman (parody of Ultraman) fights it, then it'll spawn 10 Mini-MegaBeasts. After at, the Pachinko building is smashed. One of Voltraman's goals is to kill all 10 Mega-Babies. The horns can only be activated once Voltraman is found and his objective list is unlocked.

  • The Mega-Babies will knock the skater down whenever he skates into them.
  • The posters and the signs outside appear differently from THUG 2 Remix and ports of THAW.
    • The Bashidoyo Camera sign and the two posters (see images above) appeared in THUG 2 Remix, in the Xbox 360 port of THAW, and the grey sign says Bashidoyo Camera in all ports of THAW.
    • In THAW, the horizontal sign says Yodobashi Camera, the red sign is spelled as Doyobashi Camera and the two posters are different.
  • In THUG 2 Remix, when the World SFX setting is on, Japanese people are heard talking inside the Kyoto Station.
  • Voltraman and MegaBeast Zero, the characters that fight in the THUG2 Remix story mode of the level, can be seen as Neversoft's interpretation of Ultraman and Godzilla, respectively, which are popular media franchises in Japan.
  • The photo of Chad Muska skitching an elephant taken on the trip to Bangkok references the same goal in THPS4's Zoo level.
  • In THAW, the level retains the "Destroyed" layout from THUG2 Remix, meaning the MegaBeast Zero footprint and the destroyed pachinko parlor are there from the start.
  • In THAW, in the subway of the Kyoto Station, a woman will be speaking over the PA system speaking either Japanese or English.
    • "Nuyoten,...<?>...yukuri ku."
    • "Nuyoten,...<?>...jimusho ni tte kudesai. Please report to the main office."
    • "Attention, everybody. The train to Tokyo 22 is late today."
